ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Museum containing the remains of the Punic and Roman necropolis of San Leonardo and pieces of prehistoric times.
This museum keeps the remains of the Punic and Roman necropolis of San Leonardo, discovered in the area, as well as pieces from the prehistoric period. The 80 lithic stelae from the necropolis are stored here to prevent looting at the site. They date back to the end of the 1st century BC. Rectangular or trapezoidal in shape, these stelae are decorated with palm leaves and have inscriptions carved into their stone. These stelae were used to mark cinerary tombs. The museum also contains ceramics, some dating back to the Neolithic period.
