Cathedral dedicated to St. Nicholas, the largest church in Sardinia
It is the cathedral of Sassari, dedicated to Saint Nicholas and built during the 13th century. It is the largest church in Sardinia. It has undergone many modifications and mixtures of styles. The beautiful 17th century white limestone portal is richly decorated in a Spanish Baroque style. It contrasts sharply with the much simpler lines of the cathedral's 16th century interior. From May to September, you can also take a look at the cathedral treasure on display in the diocesan museum, for which there is a charge for admission.
