Bosa reaching the status of capital of the tannery thanks to the quality of its leathers
The tanners' quarter is located on the opposite bank of the Temo river and faces the medieval village of Bosa. Leather work was revived in Bosa from the 18th century onwards, becoming a real industrial production in the middle of the 19th century. Bosa quickly attained the status of tannery capital in Italy for the quality of its leathers. The long and narrow workshops piled up facing the river, because of the great need for water. On the ground floor are the washing and colouring vats, and on the first floor the finishing touches are made.
