Necropolis with 35 domus of janas dug in a rocky amphitheater
The necropolis of the Ozieri culture (dating from 5000 BC) is dug in a rocky amphitheatre and includes 35 tombs called domus de janas. There are two sanctuary tombs, the largest in Sardinia. Engraved drawings in the rock represent bull horns, while inside the tombs engraved spirals symbolize the divinity Dea Madre, the mother goddess. The visit lasts about 2 hours: good walking shoes are recommended, as the walk is quite long and on sloping ground.
