Museum offering an exciting guided tour of an old coal mine gallery

The former Serbariu coal mine in the south of the city is home to a museum dedicated to the ore. An exciting guided tour is conducted through an old gallery, the lamp room and the winch room. During 45 min a guide will show you the history of coal in Carbonia. In the lamp room you will find tools and work clothes, old photos and films. The impressive winches activated the elevators that transported workers and wagons loaded with coal. Visits in French are possible by prior reservation.

Attention, lorsqu'il pleut, les galeries sont inondées et par conséquent, la visite se résume au hangar où les mineurs déposaient leurs lampes. Du coup, le prix de la visite est moindre.
C'est quand même intéressant de voir l'évolution des lampes avec lesquelles les mineurs s'éclairaient.
