AREA ARCHEOLOGICA
Archaeological area with a village from the Punic period that became a place of residence for the poor
The Pisan fort (via Castello) was built in 1700 to counter possible attacks. Opposite the fort, a Roman portico stands on the ruins of a Carthaginian-era structure. The hypogeum village (via Necropoli) is a necropolis dating back to Punic times, which became home to the island's poorest families. At the tophet (via Moscati), the Phoenicians sacrificed the eldest sons of the most important families. A complete tour of the various sites is a fascinating and rich experience.
