TORRE SABAUDA
Large round tower in good condition with terrace offering a beautiful view of the beach of Sottotorre
This massive tower was built by the Spaniards in the second half of the 18th century to prevent pirate attacks. It is part of the defensive system along the entire Sardinian coastline. It is built in volcanic stone according to the plans of a Piedmontese military engineer. Big round tower, it is in good condition and can be visited from the inside. From the top of its terrace you have a beautiful view of the beach of Sottotorre and the village. On the ground floor there is a small exhibition of archaeological remains found in the area.
