The annual festival celebrating the Sardinian Revolution of 28 April 1794 is most important in Cagliari, the capital.
Every April 28, the Sardinians celebrate their feast that commemorates the revolution of 1794 against the Piedmontese. Faced with the refusal of the viceroy of Savoy and Piedmont Victor-Amédée III to consider the holding of a general assembly in Sardinia, the inhabitants of Cagliari revolted and expelled the Piedmontese officials from the city. If the feast is held in all the localities of the island, it is in Cagliari that it beats full. The decisive day was re-enacted in a theatrical performance organized in the streets of the Castello district and the San-Remy bastion.
