HÔPITAL SAN GIOVANNI DI DIO
The Ospedale civile San Giovanni di Dio is Cagliari's oldest hospital. Built in 1844 by the famous architect Gaetano Cima, it is considered the hospital for the people of Cagliari. It has played an essential role in providing healthcare to the population for over a century, and is firmly rooted in the community and urban fabric of the city. San Giovanni di Dio is a multi-specialized hospital that remains a benchmark for healthcare in Sardinia today, thanks to its many structures of excellence. It is also home to some of the specialization schools of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Cagliari. With 360 beds, including 50 day hospital beds, it is currently the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria's largest facility.
