CHIESA DI SAN MICHELE
A charming church, one of the treasures of Jesuit art in Cagliari.
The Church of San Michele is among the treasures of Jesuit art. Its 17th century limestone façade is surmounted by a lantern whose niche houses the archangel Michael brandishing his sword. The nave is surmounted by a dome resting on an octagonal drum and pierced with hexagonal windows that let in natural light. The interior of the church contrasts greatly with the sobriety of the exterior. The marble altars, stucco works and paintings display a rococo style that is quite rare in Sardinia.
