NAZIONAL PINACOTECA
Museum offering an interesting pictorial panorama including a collection of altarpieces
Although of national dimension, this museum is interested in Sardinian painting. It offers an interesting pictorial panorama, including a collection of altarpieces from the 15th and 16th centuries, imported from Spain and then produced and imitated in Sardinia by artists who are mostly anonymous. Of particular note are the works of Pietro Cavaro, who inaugurated a style known as the "School of Stampacio". Most of the artistic production of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries consists of imported paintings, while the nineteenth-century canvases are signed by local painters.
