CHIESA DI SANT'AGATA
Small downtown church offering a tour to appreciate its country airs and its bell-wall
This small church in the city centre is the oldest in Quartu and dates back to the 12th century. Its austere exterior and scaly plaster hide the polished beauty of its blonde stone. You have to go around this small church to appreciate its country air and its bell-tower-wall. The original building had a single span and was later enlarged on its right side. The Romanesque vaults can still be seen. The painting of the Crucifixion in the choir dates back to 1600 and was made by the Genoese master Orazio Di Ferrari.
