PARC NATUREL RÉGIONAL LIVRADOIS-FOREZ
Saint-Gervais-sous-Meymont is a regional nature park with a number of cultural activities.
Today, 169 communes are members of the Regional Nature Park. This label testifies to the richness of their heritage, landscape and culture. It was created in 1986 to counter the effects of demographic decline and to devise an innovative development model. It ensures cohesion between the various players - inhabitants, elected representatives, associations and professionals - who are invited to work together on a range of initiatives aimed at adopting sustainable resource management, developing eco-responsible tourism, passing on and investing in cultural heritage, opening up to others and to the world through culture, acting for greater solidarity, and so on. The essential missions are defined in a Charter, which will be renewed in 2026: environmental education and public information, preservation of natural environments and biodiversity, promotion of heritage and renewable energies, encouragement of sound agricultural practices, sustainable forest management... Joint cultural actions are carried out: "Passeurs de mots" shares its passion for books and reading with as many people as possible, "Ciné Parc" works to promote access to a diverse range of cinemas, "Bistrots du Massif" transforms them into venues for shows and concerts, while promoting local artists, and so on. The park is managed by a mixed syndicate, enabling the pooling of resources and improving the coherence of public policies across the Livradois-Forez region.
