The beaches of Villasimius are the most beautiful in the south of the island and enjoy powdery white sand and crystal clear waters.
Cape Carbonara is bordered by heavenly beaches bathed by the waters of a protected marine area, suitable for diving and snorkelling. Very popular in summer, they become wild and more peaceful in the off-season:
Simius: long sand ribbon of one kilometre, it is the main beach of Villasimius and the closest to the town. Guarded at each end by a rocky promontory, it is above all a succession of private beaches of the surrounding hotels.
Timi Ama: small cove located at the end of Simius beach at the entrance of the Notteri pond. Its clear and shallow waters are ideal for the practice of PMT.
Porto Giunco: Spectacular, it borders the Notteri pond which is home to pink flamingos. At the other end, it is dominated by a superb Aragonese tower, the Torre di Porto Giunco. To reach it, take the path that starts at the end of the beach and crosses the scrub, passing by the small creek of Porto Giunco.
Cala Caterina: on the western slope of Cape Carbonara, these two tiny coves are among Villasimius' best-kept secrets. Difficult to find among the luxury villas that occupy this part of the peninsula, there is hardly room for more than a few towels.
Riso: at the exit of the Villasimius marina, the "rice" beach takes its name from its sand, small grains of granite shaped by the tides. Not really beautiful compared to others in the region, it is nevertheless one of the best places to enjoy the sunset.
Campulongu: this 500-metre long beach is overrun by locals who appreciate its fine grain of sand and its shallow, calm waters, perfect for young children. The presence of hotels and residences quickly saturates it. Better to come early.
Porto Luna: between Simius and Punta Molentis, the coast is lined with rocky creeks ideal for PMT.
PuntaMolentis: The beach closes the bay of Cape Carbonara to the north. It pays homage to the donkey(molentis) which was used to carry the numerous granite blocks in the vicinity. Popular with locals and tourists alike for its crystal-clear waters and intimate setting, the beach can only accommodate 500 people a day for a small fee. If you want to put your towel down, you have to come early, when it opens at 8am. You can also choose to rent a deckchair at the beach restaurant I Due Mari. More expensive, but you can come whenever you feel like it... otherwise you will have to make a reservation.
