PEDRA LONGA
Pyramidal monolith of 128 meters high based on dolomitic limestone of high cliffs
A rocky needle dominates two very beautiful coves with turquoise waters. Pedra Longa is a magnificent pyramidal monolith of dolomitic limestone that rises from the waters to a height of 128 meters. It is embedded in the part of the coast that extends from Santa Maria de Navarrese to Capo di Monte Santo. This rocky coast is characterized by high cliffs. The ancient navigators chose Pedra Longa as a landmark, the needle closing the Supramonte area to the south. They called it Guglia, Aguglia or Agugliastra, guglia meaning "needle".
