CALA GOLORITZÉ
Superb wild cove with beautiful beaches with access only for hiking
This superb wild cove of small white pebbles, drenched in translucent turquoise waters, is a Unesco World Heritage site. It can only be reached on foot or by sea from Cala Gonone or Santa Maria Navarrese. The beach is regularly listed as one of the most beautiful in Italy and Europe.
How to get there. In Baunei town center, after the church, take the road that climbs to the right. Drive for 9 km (Altopiano di Glogo) until you reach the Cala Goloritzé sign on the right. Proceed to the second parking area.
The hike is fairly easy on the outward journey, but there's a slight risk of slipping on the pebbles on the steep descent. Allow a good hour's walk, or 1h30 if you take your time. The ascent is more arduous, taking up to half an hour longer (depending on your level). Bring closed-toe shoes, as the path is rocky and it would be dangerous to step out in flip-flops.
To make the most of this beach and the almost milky-blue sea, it's best to set off early in the morning, as this piece of paradise is in the shade by 3pm. You can picnic on the wooden tables just before you reach the beach steps. Always remember to bring 2 liters of water and a snack in case you feel a bit under the weather.
Please note, as the beach is small, we recommend visiting this little paradise out of season, as it quickly becomes overcrowded in summer and loses its charm (unless, of course, you arrive early in the morning).
