CHIESA SAN ANDREA E TORRE PISANA
Larger and more modern church, preserving its bell tower and Aragonese style
This church, now in ruins, was abandoned in the 19th century for the larger and more modern church in the city centre. It was probably built in the 17th century and had a Greek cross plan. The bell tower is the only well-preserved part of the building. It is made of volcanic stone and has withstood the ravages of time better than the rest of the church, which is made of mixed stone. It is traditionally attributed to the Pisans, although in reality its style is Aragonese.
