When we arrived we were welcomed by the farm’s three dogs and the host Renata, who really is the first great reason to stay here. She is fluent in Italian, German and English, and she was welcoming, accommodating and knowledgable.
Every morning a varied continental breakfast was served in the restaurant that also included a selection of fresh farm-made produce; eggs, yoghurt and varying delicious cakes. As I had the misfortune of being all kinds of ill, Renata offered to pick some wild fennel and she brewed me pots of healing tea.
The tour Renata gave us of the farm gave us a good idea of its’ history and what it produces and how it functions in and out of the seasons. One of the farm’s philosophies is to let nature do it’s thing and we love that.
The room was basic and comfortable, equipped with a decent sized fridge, AC, plenty hot water and daily room and towel cleaning. There is a small play area for the kids, a hammock and various chill areas. Surrounded by mountains, the surroundings are as quiet and peaceful as can be. The only thing you’ll hear is the clanging of the sheep bells and at night, it’s just you, the stars, the moon and the cicadas.
On our last night we chose to have the farm’s cold platter with meats, cheeses, breads and condiments that also included water and wine and we opted to have it outside in the central picnic area under the trees. This simple yet incredibly flavoursome dinner combined with the serenity of the farm was an experience worth doing on its’ own.
Do not expect a multitude of guests, at full capacity the farm will not feel crowded, which in our opinion really added to the intimate atmosphere. When you’re there, take a moment to take it all in and you might start to understand why Sardinia is a Blue Zone, a place where people regularly live up to 100 years old.
If you’re looking for an authentic, personal and hospitable Sardinian experience, wether it’s to wind down or to learn more about Sardinian (country) life, we highly recommend this place!
We were in one of the apartments in this Agriturismo: it had every comfort and was very clean.
Thanks again Renata. We’re looking forward to see you again.
