BEACHES AND COVES
Cala Mariolu often tops the lists of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia and even in Italy. Accessible only by boat.
The beaches and coves around Cala Gonone are among the most beautiful in Sardinia. In the town itself, the spiaggia Centrale and the adjoining spiaggia of Palmasera, Sos Dorroies and S'Abba Meica have clear waters but do not escape the summer crowds. Cala Fuili is the last beach to be reached by car. The following beaches can only be reached on foot or by boat.
Cala Luna. This wonderful white sand beach, set at the foot of a limestone cliff with six caves, is an ideal refuge from the summer sun. In the background, a laurel forest is reflected in the waters of a small pond. Accessible on foot by a path from Cala Fuili. Approximately 2 hours walk.
Cala Sisine. Nestled between two hillsides covered in scrub, a large beach with calm, clear waters.
Cala Biriola and Piscina di Venere. This is the most beautiful and impressive of all the coves. Cala Biriola is more intimate, Piscina di Venere more spectacular with its incomparable blue waters. Be careful, only small boats stop here for a twenty minute swim.
Cala Mariolu. Wide and beautiful beach divided into several small coves by large rocks that divide it; all the big boats stop here, so it is unfortunately often crowded in high season.
Cala Goloritzé. Famous for its beauty, but boats are not allowed to go near it. Accessible on foot from the Golgo plateau (see Baunei).
