The death of the dead takes a very special meaning in Beijing. Indeed, it is often at this traditional celebration - whose uses are similar to those in France for the Toussaint Festival - that events have taken place which forever changed the history of Beijing and China. Thus, in 1976, a movement began to celebrate the death of Zhou Enlai and criticize the power in place. Or in 1989, where the celebration of Hu Yaobang's death turned into protest.
