Located on the site of the former residence of Matteo Ricci by his successor, the German Jesuit Adam Schall von Bell. It was destroyed twice in 1775 and 1900, and only a commémorative stele, barely legible, remains original construction. The current building dates back to 1904 and includes a rectory, library and observatory. In the 1920 s, Chinese and foreigners went to mass in this cathedral.
