Like many guilds in the region and other major Chinese urban centres, this building was built thanks to the donations of rich merchants of Shanxi under the Qing. Architecture adopts a provision following a north-south axis, imposing traditional symmetry in buildings. The classic style of the Qing period is extremely colourful.
