A few kilometres from the caves of the west at the Thousand Buddhas, you can also visit the ruins of the old town of Shazhou. The ramparts date from the dynasty of the West Indies, the streets and the organization of the city resemble those of the Ming and Qing while the constructions are inspired by a Song architecture. A surprising dynastic patchwork.
