PUDONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
All international flights, including Hong Kong included, arrive at Pudong International Airport, approximately 40 km southeast of Shanghai city centre.
From airport to downtown:
Taxi: Take 1 hour 30 to 2 hours at least by car to get there or arrive in Shanghai (depending on the traffic congestion to reach Puxi). The taxi fare is 170-200 RMB (route from airport to Bund). Avoid the rabatteurs, the taxi station is slightly on your right outside the arrival hall.
Bus: The airport bus counter is located outside the arrival hall. The ticket is purchased directly on the bus. Take 15 to 30 RMB for the journey and 75 min of transportation time. Buses drive daily from 7 am to 23 pm. Bus 1 connects Pudong Airport with Celui. Line 2 serves the Pudong-Shanghai Jin An Temple road. Line 3 serves the Pudong-Zunyi Lu route via Shanghai district. Line 4 serves Hongkou Football Stadium. Line 5 is for final destination at the central railway station via Renmin Square (get off here if you go to Nanjing Dong Lu). Line 6 serves Zhongshan Park. Line 7 serves the railway station in the south. Finally, line 8 serves Nanhui New City at Pudong.
Maglev (magnetic levitation train): this high-speed train connects Pudong airport to Longyang underground Station every 15 minutes. The rate is 50 RMB and the transportation time is only 8 minutes. You can then pick up line 2 or 7 of the metro if you are not too busy, if not take a taxi.
Metro: line 2 is now serving the airport. The journey is long (not far from 1 hour) but very practical. Ticket price: 7 RMB.
Long distance bus: you can access Hangzhou directly (3 minimum and 100 RMB); Suzhou (2 hours drive and 85 RMB) and Nanjing (4 hours to 4 pm and 130 RMB) from airport.
