PARK HOTEL
Opened in 1934 in the "biggest building in Asia" at the time. Built by Hudec. 208 rooms with breathtaking views over Shanghai, 4 Chinese and Western restaurants. Standard double room at 800 RMB rates, with a nice décor with wooden furniture and a thick carpet. Very majestic reception, full of marble. Remains authentic only the facade, the rest being entirely renovated. The suites offer beautiful views of the park and Renmin Square. The building inspired young I Pei Ming to study architecture.
A few years later Hong Kong's Hong Kong bank went out of land, as did the Louvre pyramid…
