Originally a monastery, the temple takes the palm of the most famous religious site in Shanghai. Erigé in 1882, he houses two statues of Buddhas in white jade, originating in Burma. During the Cultural Revolution, the temple escaped the destruction of the red guards thanks to the ingenuity of the superior bonteen of the time that began to sell memories. Also, the latter closed the temple and covered Mao's statues. Indeed, touching them was sacrilege. Today the temple is active and practical Zen Buddhism.
