Established in 247, more than 1,750 years ago, this temple is one of the oldest Buddhist places of worship in the region. And that was converted into a plastic factory during the Cultural Revolution. The main hall dates from the beginning of the century (1921) and the other buildings are not more than 150 years old. The temple once proud of its «eight treasures» is today a vague memory: the famous well at the entrance (Bubbling Well) is the last to be destroyed in the 1950 s. Peu de choses à voir
Le Temple Jing An est entouré par la ville moderne de Shanghai, donc le contraste est saisissant quand on y entre. L'entrée est payante mais il n'y a pas grand chose à voir à l'intérieur. On peut accéder à trois/quatre salles et c'est tout donc ça ne vaut pas trop le coup à moins d'être vraiment croyant.
