1933 SHANGHAI
This is one of Shanghai's most bizarre Art Deco buildings. It stands in front of you all in round corridors and other half-storeys. You are here in a former slaughterhouse - supposedly the largest in the Far East - and that is why the corridors go up without the end of it, so that the animals are not afraid… The building is remarkable and - notable - has been made entirely in reinforced concrete, a very innovative material for the time, imported from Great Britain. The-inch thick walls are hollow to maintain a moderate temperature even in summer, making it a pleasant visit to Shanghai. Today, thanks to the magic of Shanghai, it was converted into a trendy place with many cafés, shops and majestically bars installed.
On five floors it is simply magic. In addition, the view of the last floor on the suburbs of the city is worth a detour!
