SITE OF THE 1ST NATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY
On 23 July 1921, this house witnessed the founding of the Chinese Communist Party. The first national congress of the party took place in total illegality. In the 1920 s, political meetings were banned. The meeting included 13 stakeholders representing the 53 members of the CCP at that time, including Mao, the Soviet advisers of Comintern: Nikolsky (1889-1938) and Maring (1883-1942), and other Chinese, including the two founders of the CCP: Chen Duxiu (1879-1942) and Li Dazhao (1889-1927). A week later, the meeting was interrupted by the arrival of the police and ended on a boat in Jiaxing, near Shanghai.
Visit also the headquarters of the Typically representation of the Chinese Communist Party, a few steps away from the premises of the first National Congress, at 73 of Sinan Lu, the old Massenet Street. The party settled for one year, from June 1946 to March 1947, in this beautiful villa of the 1920 s; the building was classified in 1959 and opened to the public in 1986. The villa originally belonged to Zhou Enlai.
