SONG QINGLING RESIDENCE
Born in Shanghai in 1893, in a rich family of entrepreneurs, Song Qingling follows the activities of Sun Yat-sen, a family friend. The two will eventually marry in 1915. After the death of his husband, ten years later, Song Qingling continued his political activities and joined the Communist Party, for which she will work until her death in 1981. She lived in this residence from 1948, after her return from Hong Kong where she had fled during the years of war. It is here that it will receive the most important members of the Party, as well as many foreign diplomats and businessmen. The building is a distinctly colonial style and dates back to the 1920 s. On the ground floor is the living room where guests are exposed to the gifts of the foreign hosts received by Song Qingling, and the dining room. On the first floor, you can visit the bedroom's bedroom, as well as its study room. Both pieces display original furniture, offered to Song Qingling by his parents on the day of his wedding. This house, modest but very pleasant, is located in a large garden planted with camphor, particularly pleasant in the summer touffeur.
