Built in 1906, this is still a symbol of Shanghai's concessions, but was sadly made famous during the invasion of the Japanese imperial forces. Marking the border between the international concession and the Japanese quarter of Hongkou, the bridge, strewn with corpses, was crossed by thousands of Chinese fleeing the occupier. The old bridge is now lined with a more modern structure that supports most of the traffic.

This bridge still in service is especially important for its past, because its structure is nothing original. Detour at the end of a walk on the Bund is possible.
