Nestled in the heart of a lush nature, the imperial tomb of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming river. Work started in 1381 to complete only in 1413.
When the emperor died in 1398, the Empress and one hundred of the most prominent courtiers were buried alive in his grave… The composition, developed according to rigorous architectural codification, was dictated as a model for the Ming and Qing tombs. The imperial alley, guarded by two rows of impressive animal statues, stands out from the classical treaties. A square tower announces the tomb entrance. The site offers a beautiful view of the surroundings.
