DRUM TURN
Located in the city centre, at the roundabout of Beijing Xilu (北京西路). Originally built in 1382, the Drum Tower, with an imposing architecture, consisted of a base of 9 m high, surmounted by a pavilion. The tambour announced changes in custody at night, gunshots to welcome a prominent visitor or even in official proclamations. They were also used to announce that "everything was fine" or, on the contrary, for emergencies. Following the official visit of Emperor Kangxi in 1684, the building housed the bar with the imperial order. Many art exhibitions are held on the ground floor of the building.
In the east, the Tower Tower (Dazhong Ting 大中亭) contains a huge bell of 1388 m high, 3,65 m high, for a weight of 23 000 kg! The small pavilion at two levels of a height of 14,50 m which is now home to the end of the Qing. The site also offers a nice tea house, nice to refresh at the heart of urban anarchy.
