Located on the slopes of the Huishan hills 7 km west of the city, this park was originally a private garden that belonged to Xu Jian, an eminent intellectual of the Qing Dynasty. A plum cover, the park offers beautiful scenery.
Many architectural elements (pagodas, kiosks, halls) fill this space overlooking Taihu Lake. At the top of the hill Xushan stands the pagoda of the Filial Piété (Nianqu Ta), a structure erected in 1930 at the highest point in the garden. Beautiful view of the lake.
