GREAT HALL OF THE PEOPLE
Located in the city centre, this extremely imposing set (118 500 m ²), designed by the architect Zhang Jiade, was completed in 1954. Its interest lies in the steel structure of the central dome, which is very modern at the time and capable of redeeming abrupt temperature changes despite a total weight of 280 tonnes! Architectural style refers to the nationalist will to establish a Chinese path based on past forms: reference not concealed at the Temple of the Sky in Beijing! The visit is not extraordinary, but we enjoyed much even though the old photos displayed on the floor (the place de la Bastille in Paris in the 1980 s) give a really too vintage side…
