On the Minjiang River, 55 km from Chengdu, a remarkable artwork designed more than 2 000 years ago (306-302 BC) by Li Bing, governor of the Shu kingdom, to tame the Minjiang River. This highly developed system intended to control and use scientifically the waters of the river inflated by its many tributaries before they enter the Chengdu plain. The package consists of three parts: the Yuzui dam, which divides the river into two by creating a canal, the trop plein and the irrigation system of Baopingkou.
