In the west quarter, 10 hectares of gardens and a large lake on which we can make the boat are planted. tea houses on the water, theatre in the open air. The central monument is dedicated to the men who died during the heroic construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing railway line in 1911.

Le Parc du Peuple est une visite agréable et rafraichissante, mais il vaut surtout le détour pour l'animation qui y règne : j'y suis restée une après-midi entière à regarder ici des groupes de danses folkloriques, là des chanteurs un peu désuets, ailleurs des parents qui déposent des petites annonces pour marier sa progéniture... on peut manger des nouilles sur un petit tabouret, être inviter à danser une valse, faire de la gymnastique, boire un thé tout en se faisant nettoyer les oreilles... dépaysement culturel assuré ! Et en plus : c'est gratuit
