Fort Weiyuan was a line of defense to fight against the enemy. It is strategically located on the east bank of the Pearl River on the island of Weiyuan (formerly known as the Women's Footwear Island). This great barrier of stones, also known as the great wall on water, played an important, even primordial, role during the Opium War. A very nice visit.
