Located in the city centre, Liuhou Park is home to a temple dedicated to Liu Zongyuan, a great thinker and politician under the Tang Dynasty. Liu finished his life in Liuzhou where he was appointed governor. His contribution to Chinese literature is immense. Three years after his death, the town of Liuzhou built a temple in his memory. The temple in the middle of the park is a simple building. Bronze statues represent Liu Zongyuan.
