WESTERN MARKET
This covered market in an Edwardian red brick building was opened in 1906
Opened in 1906, this is the oldest market still in operation in Hong Kong. This red-brick Edwardian building was used for 80 years as a food market and for cloth merchants, and once stretched the entire length of the block. Today, only the northern block remains. Renovated and listed as a historic monument, it has become a commercial complex. Apart from a few textile and souvenir stores, there's not much to see inside, but its architecture remains a fine testimony to the city's colonial past.
