BANK OF CHINA TOWER
A 70-storey structure 367 m high, evoking a bamboo shoot climbing towards the light
The Bank of China Tower, completed in 1990 and designed by I. M. Pei (architect of the Louvre Pyramid), is a 367-metre-high, 70-storey structure reminiscent of a bamboo shoot, a symbol of prosperity. Although rewarded for its innovative architecture, it has provoked debate due to its controversial feng shui. Its sharp, pointed angles are perceived by some practitioners as carrying negative energy. It remains one of Hong Kong's iconic skyscrapers. Climb to the 43rd floor to admire the view over Central and Kowloon.
