Park offering games, shows and attractions specially designed for young children

The only competitor to Disneyland, Ocean Park is much more than just an amusement park. Since its opening in 1977, it has established itself as a leading destination for thrills, wildlife and fun for the whole family. Nestled on the south coast of Hong Kong Island, this impressive 92-hectare park combines breathtaking attractions, spectacular panoramas and unique educational experiences.

Orientation. Ocean Park is divided into two main areas: the Waterfront, where family activities and animal exhibits are concentrated, and the Summit, known for its thrilling rides and breathtaking sea views. These two areas are linked by the Ocean Express funicular and the famous cable car, offering panoramic views.

Hair Raiser. This iconic roller coaster is suspended over a cliff, guaranteeing thrills amplified by spectacular ocean views. Its loops and fast turns make it a must for thrill-seekers.

The Abyss. A 20-storey free-fall tower that propels you into the air before a dizzying descent. The effect is stunning, combining an adrenalin rush with breathtaking panoramas.

Polar Adventure. This immersive attraction transports visitors to the icy regions of the Arctic and Antarctic. You'll meet penguins, walruses and polar foxes while learning about their natural habitat and the challenges of conservation.

The Rapids. This water ride takes you on rafts through a lush jungle, with splashes guaranteed. Perfect for hot summer days!

Shark Mystique. A captivating exhibition that plunges you into the fascinating world of sharks. More than 100 species of sharks and rays live in a huge aquarium, where you can observe them up close.

Grand Aquarium. This impressive space is home to thousands of marine creatures. The main dome lets you admire the fish from every angle, offering total immersion in underwater life.

Whiskers Harbour. A paradise for the very young, this area offers gentle rides, play areas and interaction with small animals.

Crazy Galleon. This swaying pirate ship is a classic adventure for those seeking thrills without too much intensity.

Events calendar. Throughout the year, special events transform the visiting experience, always offering a reason to return. At Halloween, the park transforms to thrill visitors with haunted houses, interactive shows and themed zones. The park's atmosphere changes dramatically, becoming one of the best Halloween experiences in Asia. With barely time to breathe, in December the park lights up with festive decorations, a Christmas market and enchanting shows, including ice performances. In summer, Ocean Park celebrates the season with water attractions, interactive water jets and outdoor concerts.

Idea for the day. To make the most of your visit, start early at the Waterfront by exploring the Grand Aquarium and meeting the giant pandas. Then take the Cable Car to the Summit, where you can challenge Hair Raiser and venture into the Polar Adventure. After a lunch break in one of the park's many restaurants, cruise down the rainforest rapids and end the day with a show.

Commitment to conservation. Ocean Park supports captive breeding programs for endangered species such as giant pandas, dolphins and seabirds, in partnership with local and international organizations. Educational workshops, such as Animal Encounters and Junior Keeper, give children and families a better understanding of conservation challenges.

august 15, 2024. It was a historic moment for Ocean Park with the birth of Hong Kong's first giant panda twins. On August 15, Ying Ying, an iconic park resident, gave birth to a male and a female. The births were celebrated as a major breakthrough in captive breeding efforts, as 19-year-old Ying Ying became one of the oldest panda mothers to give birth for the first time.

The two baby pandas, weighing 122 and 112 grams respectively on arrival, had been placed under constant surveillance to ensure their development. They represent a powerful symbol of the park's conservation initiatives, and are already attracting the attention of visitors from all over the world.

Smart tips. Plan an itinerary in advance, as you won't have time to do everything in one day. Popular attractions, such as Hair Raiser and The Abyss, can have long queues, especially at weekends. Buy your tickets in advance to avoid wasting time at the entrance, plus there are often discounts. Wear comfortable clothes suitable for water attractions and take sun protection.

In short, whether you want to discover the giant pandas, enjoy the roller coasters or witness the spectacular events, you've got it: Ocean Park promises a family-friendly visit not to be missed!
