SQUARE STATUS
Public statue of Central in front of the Legislative Council, symbolizing the city's success
Statue Square, located in the heart of Central, is an iconic square steeped in history. Created in the 19th century, it was once home to colonial statues, including that of Queen Victoria, which have now disappeared, with the exception of that of Sir Thomas Jackson, a key figure in HSBC. Bordered by historic monuments such as LegCo and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the square offers a contrast between heritage and modernity. Every Sunday, the Filipino community of helpers gather here for their day off.
