TYPHOON SHELTER
This typical, traditional spot is becoming a private domain for yachts
When typhoons strike, or on December 31st and Chinese New Year's Eve, the shelter is packed with junks, sampans and other boats seeking refuge or enjoying the fireworks. Once a refuge for fishermen and their families, it has become a showcase for port culture. In 2022, it was transformed into a pleasant seafront promenade with beautiful views over the bay. The "Walla-Walla", small motorboats famous for their role as water cabs, also offer rides in the shelter.
