POU TAI A TEMPLE
The monastery's popular vegetarian restaurant is always busy.
The Pou Tai Un temple in Taipa is one of Macau's largest Buddhist complexes. Built in traditional Chinese style, it houses imposing statues, including those of Buddha and Taoist deities, in a spiritual atmosphere. Its peaceful gardens invite meditation, and its popular vegetarian restaurant is an experience in itself, offering tasty dishes prepared according to Buddhist recipes. "Pou Tai Un" translates as "Bodhi Garden", in reference to the Bodhi tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment.
