PROTESTANT CEMETERY
Next to the Casa Garden, below the East India Company buildings, a square of shady and fresh greenery is this small cemetery, a kind of memorial dedicated to non-Portuguese traders. The place was formerly called the «cemetery of the eastern company of India» and was completely renovated in 1922. There is the tomb of artist George Chinnery. Kathleen Odell's China in China book is a fictionalized version of his life, his love and his art. Among the most famous men in this cemetery are Robert Morrison, author of the first English-Chinese dictionary and the first Bible translator in Chinese, as well as Lord John Spencer Churchill, an ancestor of Sir Winston Churchill.
