The museum occupies part of the Fortaleza do Monte next to the ruins of Sao Paulo. The second floor presents the genesis of Macau, the European and Chinese civilizations when Jorge Álvares arrived in the Pearl River delta in 1513. The second floor is devoted to different traditions, and the third floor presents a contemporary Macau. Temporary exhibitions are also on show. The Macau Museum is a great way to discover the city's heritage, its cultural mix and its current challenges.
