MACAO MUSEUM
Inaugurated in April 1998, the museum occupies part of the ancient fortress built by the Jesuits in the seventeenth century, which for a long time was the main fortification-structure of defense of the island and thus forbidden to visitors. The first story presents Macao's genesis, European and Chinese civilizations when Jorge Álvares arrived in the Pearl River Delta in 1513. The second floor is devoted to different traditions, and the third floor presents a contemporary Macau. Temporary exhibitions are also presented. The Macau Museum is a very good way to discover the city's heritage, its cultural diversity and its present challenges. You can walk around the old cannons on the terrace of the fortress which offers a superb view of the 360 ° Macau.
