LOU LIM LOC GARDEN
This pavilion is used as an exhibition hall and an auditorium for recitals during the annual Music Festival
This peaceful garden was built in 1906 by the wealthy Chinese merchant Lou Kau. He modelled his garden on those in Suzhou, China, famous for their classical beauty. Narrow paths lead around groves of bamboo and flowering bushes, then under false mountains, to a pond filled with carp and lotus. A chicane bridge crosses the latter and leads to the pseudo-Victorian pavilion: the nine zigzags prevent evil spirits from crossing the bridge, as they can only progress in a straight line.
