This "nonnerie" is located in the east of the old town near the mosque. The monastery dates back to the th century and was transformed into «nonnerie» gelougpa only in the th century by a disciple of Tsongkhapa. It currently houses about fifty nuns. In the main hall, see the performances of Chenrezi with the thousand arms, De Lhamo and De. In essence, a full-length room would have served as a meditation place for King Songtsen Gampo. When they do not recite their prayers, the nuns print on small pieces of coloured paper that will be placed inside sacred statues. The courtyard of the nonnerie is beautifully maintained, the multitude of flowers and the general calm make it a pleasant place of rest.
