The garden of the precious jewel is a vast park that stretches west of the city, near the Lhasa Hotel. The 7 th Dalai Lama used to stay there under a large tent from May to October. His successor built a summer palace in 1755. This property is dotted with gardens and small pavilions over 4 long kilometres. Note that the zoo is rather miserable, with its yak which suffers from heat, its wolf climbing at the walls of its cage and its monkeys.

We were here during a very important religious festival in Tibet, the Festival of Shoton (" yaourt" famous;), and the Norbulingka park is one of the centres of this festival, many Tibetan being set and camp in this park, nearest and dances and songs, often wearing their most beautiful clothes and with their prayer wheel.
It was the former summer residence of the Dalai Lamas and you can visit the private apartments, which the current Dalai Lama occupied until the night of his escape in India.
The shaded park, beautiful and very flowery and harmonious buildings. A place of serenity when it is calm.
To see if you in Lhasa!
